| Based in London, UK, PhoneThing Ltd concentrates on products for mobile phones and the Web. Founded in 2004, we have been quietly working on developing several exciting services, some of which are listed under the Products section, to be released soon. | |
| We operate both in the B2B (Business to business) and B2C (Business to consumer) space, and are built on the founder's passion for all things mobile. | |
| PhoneThing closely follows developments in the mobile space, attending various mobile industry trade shows over the course of the year. We are also active members of professional mobile interest groups, including Mobile Mondays London, the Oxford University Next Generation Mobile Applications Panel and the Ecademy Mobile Applications Club. | |
| Staff have extensive experience in new media and technology, including technical, sales, support, systems engineering and management roles at various companies including Verio - one of the world's largest webhosting companies, BBC Interactive TV, and founding and running a London based computer support company, IT-Assist.Net Ltd. Staff programming experience extends back 22 years, covering the early days of home computing from BASIC on the ZX Spectrum, through C on the Commodore Amiga, Pascal and C on the PC and Unix, and even assembly language and scripting on various platforms. | |
| Technology - these days, we prefer open source solutions where possible, including Linux, PHP, Ruby on Rails etc. On the mobile the simplicity and ubiquity of SMS and J2ME get our vote, though we're open to each new technology that comes along! | |
| Where's Mobile At? PhoneThing believe mobile truly has the chance to become the ubiquitous easy to use computing platform that the world has been waiting for, and that many thought the PC was. For example, we feel it is mobile rather than the PC that will help 3rd world countries climb the ladder of prosperity, not just directly, but in so many little ways in the background. Of course, the mobile is not quite there yet, but as the handset software gets easier to use, the hardware becomes more commoditised, and mobiles become more constantly connected to the internet, we'll begin to see the true potential of the platform for what are currently 2 billion users and rising. | |
| Get In Touch We always like hearing from other people and companies as interested in mobile as we are, so feel free to get in touch if that's you. |
